Dymally, Mervyn M., 1926-2012

Description

In a letter to Dymally, an incarcerated person writes that he was encouraged to contact Dymally after reading about his work in higher education in a publication made available within the prison. He asks about obtaining a higher education in order to support his family, a wife, and three daughters, after completing his sentence. He states that the governor cut funding for college correspondence courses. He is employed in the "inmate's" Barber Shop and is only paid $3 a month. He does not have enough funds to obtain his goal. He writes this letter to Dymally in hopes to apply for Federal or state aid to continue his education.
