Meagan Amaral’s Experiences with embracing Gender Expression and Pushing Against Racism in the LGBTQ Community

Title

Meagan Amaral’s Experiences with embracing Gender Expression and Pushing Against Racism in the LGBTQ Community

Description

Rick Garcia interviews Meagan about the brief history of embracing masculinity and femineity via Indigenous shamanistic practices in Chile, Korea, and Vietnam. They also discuss how society and family dynamics can impact how LGBTQ youth can embrace their identity. By learning about racial, sexual, and gender inequality in high school, Meagan was able to focus on standing up for these inequalities. With this testimonio, Rick hopes that this can contribute to the long lineage of LGBTQ resilience and futures to come.
