In this micro-documentary, Jaylene interviewed her mother, Karim. Karim immigrated from Guatemala to the U.S. at 11 years old to be reunited with her mother, however she faced discrimination due to her not speaking English. As the years went on, Karim undoubtedly worked hard to push past these hardships, and eventually, got her Associates degree. As a single-mother of two teenage girls, Karim has carried on traditions and passed on her hardworking nature to her daughters.
