The Weisburd Recordings

weisburd-reel.jpeg

These audio recording tape reels from the 1950s offer an example of technological advances that made mobile sound recordings possible in Weisburd's time. His own recordings offer invaluable insight into the sounds of live poetry events in Los Angeles, including the important "Poetry Los Angeles" reading series in the late 1950s. The collection also includes taped radio shows, experimental home recordings, and party tapes. Now made available to the public in digital form by Special Collections and Archives, many of these recordings can be listened to here.
