Originally developed in 1907 as a fundraiser to fight tuberculosis, Christmas Seals were a special type of stamp sold to raise money for respiratory diseases. Still in use today, the campaign has grown to include other forms of respiratory diseaseā€¦

In the early 1950s, tuberculosis was a major cause of death in the Los Angeles area. To combat rising cases, Cal State LA students were among the first in Los Angeles to receive free chest x rays aimed at early detection and control of TB.
