Dr. Lani Cupchoy Interview’s Poet Laureate & Author Luis Rodriguez
This micro-documentary tells the story of Los Angeles poet laureate and author, Luis Rodriquez. Luis is the founding editor of Tia Chucha Press and co-founder of Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural & Bookstore in the San Fernando Valley. In this interview, Luis discusses his experiences with drugs and violence as a teenager and his eventual self-actualization of becoming a writer. He found refuge in books through these difficult times in his life and by reading about the Chicano Movement and Black Power books from the 60s, Luis found the drive to make sure his and other untold stories are known.
