Katie Brown’s Experiences with Being a Single Mom and Full Time Worker Through the Silent Generation

Cliff Connors interviews his grandmother about her experiences as a part of the Silent Generation. During this time, McCarthyism was at its peak, and the threat of being labeled a communist made this generation the “silent generation.” At this time, Katie was a full-time nurse, breadwinner, and mother, but often experienced sexism and sexual harassment in the workplace. With this testimony, Katie offers us insight into how despite all of this, she was able to continue providing for her family.
