Meagan Amaral’s Experiences with embracing Gender Expression and Pushing Against Racism in the LGBTQ Community

Rick Garcia briefly introduces the history of embracing masculinity and femineity via Indigenous shamanistic practices in Chile, Korea, and Vietnam. Rick interviews fellow Cal State LA student Meagan Amaral. Rick asks Meagan about their experiences with society and family dynamics when it comes to gender expression and how it can impact how LGBTQ youth can embrace their identity. By learning about racial, gender, and sexual inequality in high school, Meagan focused on standing up for what they believed in. With this testimonio, Rick hopes to contribute to the long lineage of LGBTQ resilience of the past, present, and future.
